Born in Crema on 2 January 1964.A self-taught artist, he moved to Lecco at the age of 26. There he attended several painting studios, studying under, among others, Angelo Bellini. For several years he combined his painting practice with music, in a continuous dialogue between the two fields that strongly influences the characteristics of his visual output.In 1999, fascinated by the works of Burri, he approached polymaterial art forms: burlap, wallpaper, iron and wood make up the panels belonging to this artistic period.Roberto Marchesini's output is nothing other than the most instinctive expression of his everyday life and lived experience.Always receptive and open to every kind of influence, upon returning from a journey to the East he focused his work on ethnic symbols, which over time evolved into an increasingly non-figurative language, aimed at recounting in a disorderly manner the present and its continuous becoming. Aware of the human need to act according to common rules and patterns, Marchesini awakens in the viewer the emotions stirred by the sight of a violent, abstract, impulsive work.
"I would like it to be as if I were sticking a finger into the mouth of whoever looks at one of my paintings. To scratch and stimulate what lies inside that head, without even knowing what it is. Beautiful or not beautiful, it will be a sensation that I have awakened either way."
From 1994 to the present, Roberto Marchesini has taken part in exhibitions and artistic performances in Crema, Lecco, in Rimini on the occasion of the National Biennial of Painting, Modena, Milan, Turin, Bergamo, Brescia and Treviso. In 2009, his love for music found expression in "PERFORMANCE SENSITIVA", a live painting event accompanied by the instrumental improvisation of G. Vergan and L. Guarino.
